Strasbourg was a French battleship of World War II. The keel for this unit was laid in 1934, launching took place in December 1936. The full displacement of the ship at the time of launching was about 35,500 tons, length – 215 m, with a width of 31.1 meters. The maximum speed reached 30 knots. The deck armament consisted of, among others: 8 cal. 330 mm placed in two turrets or 16 cal. 130 mm.

Strasbourg was the second and last battleship of the Dunkerque class. Ships of the line of this type were designed and built primarily as a French response to the German Deutschland class units. All the main artillery was placed at the front of the unit – similarly to the battleships HMS Rodney or HMS Nelson. Care was also taken to ensure the best possible armor of the new French battleships. It is worth noting that dunkerque class units were built in compliance with the provisions of the Washington Conference. Strasbourg did not take a very active part in World War II. After the surrender of France in June 1940, she was sent to the base at Mers-el-Kebir, where in July of the same year she was attacked by the British fleet as part of Operation Catapult. However, he managed to escape the Royal Navy and sail happily to Toulon, where he stayed until 1942. There, in November 1942, she was sunk by the crew. In July 1943, it was raised from the bottom by the Italians and was repaired by them, but in 1944 it was sunk again – this time by the American air force. Raised again from the bottom in October 1944. Finally, in 1955, she was sold for scrap. 24 inches long
