Carrera has been a major name in the motor racing world for several decades and in 1981 sponsored the Ford Capri Zakspeed Turbo driven by Manfred Winkelhock. Winkelhock drove the car to victory in the DRM race around the Nürburgring circuit. The bodywork was painted in green, white and red, allowing the Carrera logo to be accommodated perfectly.
